Vedging on the couch and decided to doodle the junk that’s on the coffee table.
Then I realized what I wrote could be read as an observation or as a command. Ohhh semantics…
So you remember that post I had about white ink brush pens….and if they existed?
Well….. I couldn’t find one anywhere so I decided to try and make my own!
I bought one of those watercolor blender pens and filled it up with some FW white ink. At first it didnt really do much. I think the brush tip had some kind of oil in it and it kept mixing with the ink, making it really transparent. My hope was for it to be super opaque. (Like a paint marker, but with the line quality of a brush pen.)
I was a little disappointed with my experiment, but I still continued to play around with it because it had a neat effect for other things.
My other worry was that the ink would get crusty or dry up the brush. But I’ve been pleasantly surprised that hasn’t happened at all. Maybe its the oils in the brush tip?
Anyways, I pulled out my sketchbook tonight and my frankenstein brush pen to do some light blocking in. For some reason it came out pretty opaque… at least more than it has ever been. I was able to get the line variation I had been seeking. Woohoo!
Success!?! I’d like to think so!
Is this the back of your head?
Pulled out my mini sketchbook and some gouache today. Played around with some colored pencils, paint pens and metallic markers too.
Is it finally spring!? Judging by the pollen coating my car and the itchiness in my eyes…..I’d say so!
